everyday stories of colossal importance

ABOUT THE FILM

Edward, an eccentric recluse in his late sixties, has been forced to sell the house that he has lived in for the last forty years. As the auction draws closer, he tries to come to terms with the changes that are quickly altering the world he has known for so long.

At first it appears that Sophia has come to the neighbourhood solely to buy Edward’s house. But as she explores the area it becomes clear that her interest in the property has been geographically dictated by the entries in a black leather-bound book that she carries with her everywhere she goes.

The script for Everyday Stories of Colossal Importance was inspired by a layered community development process that involved collecting stories from people who live in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Elements of these stories were used to develop many of the the characters, settings and scenarios found in the film. Videos of the interviews can be seen by going here
